2025 – A Record-Breaking Season for Pantelleria
Pantelleria Experience Numbers
2025 is drawing to a close, and summing up, we can say it has been a particularly positive year for Pantelleria.
In this context, Pantelleria Experience, now active for over three years, has consolidated its position as the island's leading digital tool, used daily by both tourists and residents.
As of December 2025, the app has over 11,000 active users, with steady growth demonstrating how digital innovation, when born from and for the local area, can generate real value.
Pantelleria Experience was, in fact, the first digital platform on the island to create a structured network among Pantelleria's businesses.
This network now includes over 70 active partnerships, created with the aim of offering increasingly qualified and coordinated services to visitors, season after season.
2025 Season Numbers
August 2025 marked the highest peak ever recorded by the app:
14,027 concurrent users, compared to just over 8,000 users in August 2024.
Orders placed on the platform also saw significant growth, up 35% compared to the 2024 season, confirming the increased use of the app not only as an informational tool, but also as an operational one.
International tourism is also growing, reaching 30% of total users in 2025, compared to 27% in 2024:
an increase of 3 percentage points, equal to a relative growth of 11%, with a particularly significant presence of tourists from the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.
The Role of Social Media and Digital Communication
Another interesting finding emerges from the data collected through satisfaction surveys:
31.1% of users stated they learned about Pantelleria through social media, compared to 21% in 2024 and 10.3% in 2023.
This result is particularly significant, considering that Pantelleria Experience has been managing one of the most followed and consulted Instagram pages dedicated to the island for years, becoming the most visited page for content related to the area in 2025.
An Island That's Growing, Beyond Individual Numbers
Our data alone would not be sufficient to describe the season's overall performance.
For this reason, we compared our results with those of our partners, which show that Pantelleria has seen an overall increase in tourist flows of 5.7% compared to 2024.
This is particularly positive when compared to ISTAT figures, which for Italy indicate an average increase of 2.5%, accompanied, however, by a 0.9% decrease in arrivals during the tourist season.
A result born of collective effort
The 2025 results are, in our opinion, the fruit of a shared commitment based on collaboration, sacrifice, and a shared vision.
It should be noted that at the end of 2024, the forecasts for 2025 were not encouraging; however, thanks to the joint efforts of Pantelleria entrepreneurs gathered in the "Welcome to Pantelleria" group and the support of local authorities (the Municipality and the Park), it was possible to bring over 3,000 more passengers to the island than the airlines' normal schedule.
Looking to 2026
Looking to the future, 2026 unfortunately presents new challenges.
Although Pantelleria continues to be cited among the top international destinations, the island is once again faced with route reductions and limited airline operations.
Current estimates suggest approximately 7,000 fewer passengers for the 2026 season.
Numerous contacts with airlines have so far yielded no positive results, while the State and Region do not appear to show any real structural interest in resolving a cyclically recurring issue.
Once again, a significant effort is required from local entrepreneurs, who are currently meeting to identify concrete solutions. This unity remains, to date, the only valid tool we have to address this situation.
We are confident that the unity and collaboration between businesses and local authorities, already demonstrated in recent years, can be further strengthened in the face of new challenges.
